Community Resilience Resource Centre (CRRC)

Village Development Society Under this project, a Community Resilience Resource Centre (CRRC) has been established in Bhagwanpur block of Haridwar district, Uttarakhand state with the aim to empower integrated community resilience by mobilizing sustainable livelihood options and local resource-based solutions of stakeholders from all six blocks of the district. The CRRC will act as a single-window, dynamic knowledge transfer platform that will provide need-based solution packages to address selected uncertainties within the community. It aims to enhance community resilience against various challenges. It is designed to connect communities with locally appropriate STI solutions, helping them prepare for and respond to various economic, social and environmental uncertainties. Identified uncertainties:

  • Multidimensional poverty index
  • Reduced livelihood opportunities
  • Pandemic situation and economic slowdown (as highlighted by NITI Aayog)
    Role of CRRC: CRRC will accelerate community resilience by providing appropriate applicable technical skills to selected beneficiaries, enabling them to cope with the identified uncertainties. This will be achieved through:
  • Acting as a dynamic technical knowledge hub for locally appropriate applicable technical skills and upskilling, focusing on demand-driven streams.
  • Building resilient communities through networking and partnerships with technology resource and export institutions.
  • Facilitating access to locally relevant technology solutions and skill development programmes.
    Resilience domains/areas for CRRC interventions:
  1. Health and Nutrition: Improve health capacity and strengthen resilience of women and children, including nutrition awareness and preventive healthcare.
  2. Skill Development and Capacity Building: Build locally relevant technical skills for sustainable livelihoods, enhance employability, and promote entrepreneurship.
  3. Access to Basic Needs: Enhance water security through groundwater management, promote efficient water use, and improve community access to clean water.

Work Area: 60 villages in 6 blocks (10 hotspot villages per block) of Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

Targeted Stakeholders: Youth, women, children, farmers, SHGs (self-help groups), FPOs (farmer producer organizations), ASHA and ANM health workers, potential micro entrepreneurs, students, teachers, and local government departments.

Total Targeted Beneficiaries: 8000 (SC 2000, Women 3200, Youth 2800)

Project Duration: Three years (March 2024 – March 2027)
